During the recent Budget 2012 presentation, the Government has announced to give out a one-off cash payment of RM500 to households with an income of less than RM3,000 a month. This assistance is one of the various initiatives undertaken by the Barisan Nasional government to alleviate the burden of low-income earners in facing the rising cost of living.
An eligible household refers to a man or woman who holds lead responsibility for all those living in the household. This includes individuals who are:
Recipients of assistance under Jabatan Kemajuan Masyarakat are also eligible for 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M).
Also automatically eligible for 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) are the registrants of the e-Kasih programme.

|RM2.6 billion is expected to benefit 5.2 million households in several phases. These 5.2 million households represent approximately 80 percent of the total Malaysian households.
Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak has buoyed the spirit of the people by announcing that the BR1M programme will be continued in the coming years if the country’s revenue continues to increase. This is one the many reasons why Malaysians are truly behind the transformation programme initiated by the Barisan Nasional government.
