Barisan to counter Pakatan’s manifesto, says Najib
Tarikh:
2-3-2013

PEKAN: Barisan Nasional will counter Pakatan Rakyat's manifesto point by point to explain why the Opposition's promises are impossible, saidPrime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

He said this was so that the rakyat could better understand that these promises were mere “political, magic tricks”.

“Pakatan promises to reduce petrol (price), water tariff, electricity (rates) and give free higher education but it fails to outline how it is going to find the money to finance this.

“Our job is to make the people realise that these promises are not doable and we will counter these with facts and figures. We will tell people that Pakatan's promises will only lead to economic ruin and disaster,” he said after launching a Rural Transformation Centre in Kuala Pahang here yesterday.

In its manifesto, Pakatan promised, among others, to increase the household income to at least RM4,000 within the first term of its rule.

It also pledged to stop two controversial projects (the Lynas rare earth plant in Gebeng, Kuantan, and the Automated Enforcement System to book traffic offenders), to gradually abolish highway toll and to set up an Anti-Monopoly Com-mission.

Barisan's manifesto, said Najib, would outline the coalition's plan for the country for the next five years as well as what it had done in the past five years, adding that it would not counter Pakatan's promises.

Unlike the Opposition which was merely big on slogans, he said the Barisan government had ensured that its slogans were actually followed up with action.

Besides introducing various transformation programmes, the Government had come out with 230 affordable 1Malaysia products, he said.
