Barisan Nasional Strategic Communications Director Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan slammed Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s attempt at garnering sympathy.
In his recent media statement, Rahman Dahlan spoke of how Guan Eng is feeding news portals that the he may not contest in the next General Election, naming the upcoming corruption trial dates as the reason why.
“The trial dates are only being scheduled now after such a long delay because of Guan Eng's attempt to challenge the MACC act as unconstitutional - a case that went through the High Court, Court of Appeals and all the way up to the Federal Court.
“Whether this was a deliberate attempt to delay his trial, only Guan Eng knows.”
Rahman Dahlan added that Guan Eng has only himself to blame with regards to his court dates scheduled as they are now.
“Guan Eng should have confidence in our courts where he will be allowed to defend himself in an open and transparent manner.
“The public will also get the chance to look at the evidence against him as this trail will receive public and media attention.”
Rahman Dahlan cited the length of former Selangor Menteri Besar Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo for a similar offence which began in 2010 that ran until his conviction in 2015, quashing Guan Eng’s fear that he is not able to contest in the next General Election.
