KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional will unveil its manifesto a people-centric one based on Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's 1Malaysia People First concept at a special function at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil here this evening.
It was learnt that the manifesto will reinforce the coalition's commitment to the people as stated in the 1Malaysia idea.
Insiders said the document, which will be distributed after the launch by Najib, is a comprehensive one, unlike previous manifestos that provided broad policies, without any specifics.
“It will be a manifesto that is inclusive, promotes social justice, fiscally responsible and ensuring sustainable economic growth,” said a source, adding that Najib had insisted that the document will not “stray too far away from the national transformation plans”.
He said the Barisan manifesto will not burden the people and will be something the country can afford.
Najib is expected to deliver his speech at about 8.30pm and the event, which can be seen as the kick-start for the Barisan Nasional election machinery, will be broadcast live by TV3 and other TV stations.
Pakatan Rakyat unveiled its common manifesto on Feb 25, which they claimed had been ready for two years and promised of financial assistance to the people including the minimum wage level of RM1,100 per month.
However, Barisan had dismissed the opposition manifesto as unrealistic and would bankrupt the nation.
